What is Junior Squash?

We actively encourage juniors from the age of 4 years to play Squash. Juniors are divided into groups and train with others based on ability (and age). We currently run 3 sessions per week for our children to learn and play squash all year round in a friendly and inclusive environment. These are run by England Squash qualified coaches and take place across three term dates.

Our coaching sessions run on Saturday mornings for one hour and either start at 9am or at 10am. In order to be able to ensure Juniors are training with others who ahve similar abilities and age, they may be required to attend a one-off sessions so we can suggest the most appropriate group/time subject to availability.

When are the term dates?

  • Winter – The Winter term runs from September through to December, with a break for half termThe term lasts for a total of 10 sessions.
  • Spring – The Spring term runs from January through to March, with a break for half termThe term lasts for a total of 10 sessions.
  • Summer – The summer term runs from April 2024 through to August, with a break for half termThe term lasts for a total of 10 sessions.

What are the term fees?

We make a conscious effort to ensure that our fees are as accessible as possible where the Club does not make a profit from Junior squash coaching.

All juniors must be members of Aylesbury Squash Club to participate in Junior Squash coaching, where we offer term-time membership for Juniors who are not currently members.

  • Juniors – £50-60 per term coaching feed plus membership of around £20

We recommend all Juniors join the Club on a rolling monthly basis as this will enable them to continue practising their coaching in our mixed leagues and play friendlies outside of term times.

What to bring?

New Juniors

Will only need to bring clean non-marking indoor trainers as we provide rackets/goggles for new starters.

Regular Juniors

Will recommend purchasing your own equipment (glasses, rackets, balls). Glasses and balls can be bought from the bar.

Squash Shoes

It is important that you wear different shoes to walk from the car park (or that you wear outside) to those that you play on the court with. Stones and mud can damage the court surface and make it unsafe.

Safeguarding

The safety and integrity of children and vulnerable adults Aylesbury Squash Club is of paramount importance. The Club has a dedicated Welfare Officer, who is always available for any safeguarding issues or concerns. John, along with the Squash Committee and Lead Coach ensure that all of our policies are implemented consistently to ensure a safe environment for all. In addition all of our coaches are DBS checked and meet and/or exceed the England Squash safeguarding requirements.

A general gentle reminder, please can parents/guardians ensure ALL juniors (under 19) wear protective eyewear when on the court at ALL times, this includes junior squash, league games and when attending court with parents/guardians. We recommend that all juniors who play on a regular basis purchase their own glasses which can be provided at “cost price” from the bar.
